Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.

Rotary International recognizes the value of diversity within individual clubs. Rotary encourages clubs to assess those in their communities who are eligible for membership, under existing membership guidelines, and to endeavor to include the appropriate range of individuals in their clubs. A club that reflects its community with regard to professional and business classification, gender, age, religion, and ethnicity is a club with the key to its future.

Thanks to all that came out it was an excellent day!

Continuing the tradition, we all met at Woodeden Easter Seals Camp on Thursday at 4 o’clock and started preparation for the BBQ.  Tomatoes and onions were cut up, the BBQ was lit and the condiments were set out on the tables.  Mark arrived with the pop and ice and Barbara unloaded three large coolers filled with Chocolate, Vanilla and Butterscotch ice cream.  Karen, Pat and Eric kept us all moving so we’d be ready for the kids when they arrived.

Dan, Lorne, Russ, Gavin, Frank and Doug were in charge of the burgers and quickly had a system going.  Alice, Muriel, Doris and Tom had their own line going as they assembled and wrapped the burgers so Carl and Delores could group them by type for easy pick up by the staff.

Over 130 campers and workers assembled down the hill and rallied before they headed up to the pavilion for their meal.  The kids all welcomed us and then thanked us on their way out again.  A good time was had by all.

Thanks to Carl and Delores for doing such a great job organizing this year’s event and to everyone who helped make it a success!
